Houses continuing to sell in NI, study finds
Executives in Irish sales jobs should be aware the housing market in Northern Ireland remained relatively robust in the fourth quarter of 2011, figures released today (February 9th) revealed.
According to the latest University of Ulster Quarterly House Price Index, the number of transactions completed between October and December totalled 960, compared to just 684 for the same period in 2010.
The study, which was produced in partnership with the Bank of Ireland and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, indicated this was lower than the previous two quarters of 1,133 and 1,062 respectively.
There was also a 10.7 per cent decline in the average selling price of a house in the six counties, with mean cost totalling £137,219.
Professors Alastair Adar, Stanley McGreal and Dr David McIllhatton, authors of the report, said: “Although the market is showing some tentative signs of stabilisation, it is still rather thin in terms of transaction levels with average prices tending to be lower rather than higher.”
