Private sector employment to grow

Professionals in search of technical sales jobs should be encouraged to hear private sector employment is forecast to grow within the next three months, new figures suggest.

Despite general gloom regarding UK employment, there is a brighter side to the situation that includes a 20 per cent employment increase for the private sector, a study from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) revealed.

This coincides with a comforting trend that British employers are more likely to recruit on home ground than look overseas for suitable candidates as figures showed a six per cent dip in recruiters intending to hire migrant workers.

CIPD public policy adviser Gerwyn Davies said: “The good news resulting from this lull in business activity is that fewer employers are looking to relocate abroad or make redundancies.”

Meanwhile, the chief executive officer of Work Wise UK, Phil Flaxton, highlighted the fact that unemployment figures fell below previous projections.

He said: “We have done a remarkable job in keeping unemployment low - certainly lower than was predicted a year or 18 months ago.”
