What to expect when considering moving East

What to expect when considering moving East
Many professionals working in global businesses, in particular within financial services, have for long been attracted to the opportunities in Asia Pacific. However, this demand is now so strong – as employees look to head east and demand for jobs is outstripping supply – that the generous perks once on offer are being rapidly axed.

That means no more international school fees, car allowances and other relocation ‘extras’.

An absence of political pressure on bankers bonuses and an ever improving tax regime make a career in Asia for many very attractive. Not only is the competition excessively high from Europeans looking to travel East, but the local talent pool is becoming more experienced so the top flight vacancies are becoming easier to fill.

Having said that, Asian experience on your CV, whether in banking, consumer goods or elsewhere, is increasingly attractive to employers should you head back to Europe. If you can outfox the competition, give it a go.
